Weight Management for Psychiatric Medication-Induced Weight Gain
Many psychiatric medications including those prescribed for depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder can lead to unintended weight gain.
At Lucent Psych, we provide a medically guided weight management program designed to help you achieve sustainable weight loss while continuing your essential mental health treatment.

Why Do Psychiatric Medications Cause Weight Gain?
Certain psychiatric medications can slow metabolism, increase appetite and alter fat storage, making weight management challenging. Some medications that may contribute to weight gain include:
-
Antidepressants (SSRIs, SNRIs, tricyclic antidepressants)
-
Mood stabilizers (lithium)
-
Antipsychotics (olanzapine, quetiapine, risperidone)
-
Anti-anxiety medications (benzodiazepines, certain sedatives)
While these medications are essential for mental health stability, unwanted weight gain can impact self-esteem, physical health and your overall wellbeing. Our program helps patients balance mental health care with effective, sustainable weight management strategies.
